What should my child wear and bring?
- Closed toe shoes are mandatory.
- Comfortable farm clothing that can get soiled.
- Jacket or hoodie suitable for rain if needed.
What are your age restrictions?
- The Spring Break Alpaca Camp is available to children ages 8 thru 16.
Will my child get to pet the alpacas?
- Yes!
Will my child just be free labor…like in the movie “Holes“?
- No! The “Daily Chores” should last about 30-minutes. Your child will learn the importance of the daily chores and team up with other children for a brief hands-on experience.
Do alpacas kick?
- While rare, yes alpacas might kick when they feel threatened from behind. Your child will receive safety instructions and be supervised while working with alpacas.
Do alpacas spit?
- Yes. Alpacas spit at each other when they feel threatened or they are competing for food. While it’s rare for alpacas to spit at humans, we do occasionally get caught in the cross-fire.
How does weather effect the Spring Break Alpaca Camp?
- This is life on the farm. These sessions take place rain or shine and warm or cold. However, if extreme weather is forecasted, we will reschedule or cancel the event for the safety and welfare of your children. Note that even in rainy conditions, children will only be in the elements intermittenly for short periods of time.
